Great day out in Mawneys Ward at Collier Row roundabout -- guys from Community Payback are clearing the old flowers and bushes from the large planters ready for replanting in autumn. Thanks to Town Centre Manager Terry and team Leader Maurice for their enthusiastic help responding to ward councillor Sue Benjamins. Watch this space for the new plants in a few weeks' time!

MORNING TEA☕ WEDNESDAY AUGUST 20, 2025. STRENGTH THROUGH CONNECTION. TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Psalm 92:13, NKJV- Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. TODAY’S WORD: California’s magnificent redwood trees can reach heights of 350 feet and live for 2,000 years. They’re incredibly resilient, withstanding strong winds, storms, and pests that take other trees down. What’s interesting is that their roots are only six to twelve feet deep. The only way the shallow roots can hold up these massive trees is that the roots spread out 100 feet and intertwine with other redwoods’ roots. Against the storms, the whole redwood forest is linked together and stands strong. Storms may be blowing against you today in your health, your finances, a relationship, trying to push you down, telling you it’s never going to work out, that you have too many obstacles. When you’re planted in a community of faith, your faith gets connected with others’ faith. Before long, you have a support system that cannot be shaken. When the storms come, what would have normally blown you over if you were alone can’t move you. You have others who steady you, encourage you, and uphold you. When we’re all connected, together we can’t be defeated. Together we’re powerful. PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father, thank You for the strength and support system I have when I’m connected to others. Thank You that I can be planted in Your house and that my faith can be joined to others’ faith. Help me to get plugged in and see faith grow and become powerful. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

😂 Remember that viral joke of the comedian who got wrongly credited with a huge sum of money? The bank called him, asking him to "kindly return the money to the rightful owner." He replied: “Sure! But first… come to my office and ask for my secretary. Collect a form and fill it out. Come back in 2 weeks. Bring your passport photo, the other person’s bank portfolio, and a signed letter from your MD. Then we’ll proceed — maybe.” 😎 It was hilarious… until the banker realized — this is exactly how they treat their customers! 😅 🧾 Red-tapism — The Hidden Killer of Productivity! Whether in banking, civil service, or private firms, unnecessary protocols ❌ Waste time ❌ Drain energy ❌ Kill innovation ❌Decisions crawl. ❌ Employees get frustrated. ❌When your job becomes a battle of paperwork and protocols, energy shifts from productivity to survival. ❌If your client or colleague needs 7 signatures and 2 referrals just to solve a basic problem… you’re not working smart. 🚀 Dear professionals: It’s time to scrap needless steps and embrace smarter systems. Let’s stop punishing people with processes that don’t serve purpose. 💬 Let’s Talk: What’s the most ridiculous protocol you’ve faced at work? Have you ever pushed for change in your system?
